In Minnesota, fosters over have the right to access their foster care records, vital documents, and other public information, often called a “file.”
MyFosterFile.com is a project of the Minnesota‑based nonprofit Power of Story. It’s designed to help fosters understand:
- what you have the right to request
- how to get your records
- what support is available along the way
If you were in Minnesota foster care and were later legally adopted, what you can access—and how you access it—will be different. You can find more information for adoptees through Adoptee Rights Law Center, Minnesota Department of Health, and Foster Adopt MN.
